VIN - Very Important News
Hello guys! I'm really sorry about having no update posted last Friday but I have a reason for that, and some not-so-quite news but something equally VERY important that I would like all members who see this to comment on with their opinions. Even if you aren't an active member, your opinion will still be valuable and much appreciated.
So to cut to the chase: Belle and I are really worried about this TCG (as you guys probably already know from the update one or two weeks ago) and as a result, it has led to us to finding it hard to justify the amount of work that is currently required to keep this tcg afloat and simply put, we've slowly been losing the motivation to keep running Dilly Dally.
NOW, BEFORE YOU (MAY) GET AHEAD OF YOURSELF, THIS DOES NOT MEAN DILLY DALLY IS CLOSING so get that thought out of your head if you were thinking it!!!! We both love Dilly Dally too much for that and we equally love all of you who have joined and those of you who have continuously been active and enthusiastic despite how slow the TCG has been running overall.
We really and truly appreciate the comments you guys have left us about how you feel about this TCG and giving us kind words that make us feel like all this work we've been putting in was not in vein but even we have been beginning to see the steady decline of activity withing the past months.
We realize that this is probably due to a lot of you being busy with RL stuff which we totally get but going into this TCG, we also had a feeling that it would not be that popular or well received because it is a journal TCG. It's no secret that a lot of you, if not all or most, are in other K-Entertainment related TCGs and as I am a member of most/if not all of them as well, I know how active those are and how they have a lot of members.
Naturally, I began to think "are people not joining DD because we're a journal TCG?" because while I was still working on this TCG before, I had done a quick interest survey type of thing and found that although people liked the cards/liked the ideas behind Dilly Dally, they wouldn't join simply because it was a journal TCG. Still, I pushed on with making Dilly Dally a journal TCG and had hoped for the best.
At first it was fine, and things had gone as we expected (that is, a small player base and slower activity, etc.) but we still had a good amount of pretty active players but as the months went on, the numbers kept decreasing despite getting new players signing up here and there. It was a little disheartening but thanks to those of you who kept encouraging us, we kept pushing on and that brings us to where we are now.
Like I said in the previous update, we have no intention of closing Dilly Dally or putting it on a hiatus or whatever. Although this possibility has come up a few times (and to be honest, it's something I've thought about for a while now but I really didn't want DD to become something I lost interest in), we've come to another idea for a solution which is what we want you guys to weigh in on. After all, you guys are the ones who keep this TCG going so your opinions are valuable to us and will help in the decision we make.
So, what we want to know is: What are your opinions on having Dilly Dally turn into a website TCG? I know some of you will not like this idea because there are some who greatly prefer journal TCGs to website TCGs but we can honestly not think of any other way to "save" DD (so if you have other ideas, do share them with us!)
If the majority of you are okay with having Dilly Dally turn into a website based TCG, then that's what we'll do. All the ideas we have in place now will stay the same and instead of having everything on a dreamwidth community, it'd be on a forum whereas games would be moved to the site itself (and with a website TCG, we could even add more games). Updates would also occur on the site and we'd make sure to have a comment system, as well— Basically, if you participate/have participated in other website TCGs, then we'd be operating the same more or less.
All players would get to keep whatever they have now, as well, but for a limited time when the complete move is done, we'll have a promotional period where new members who join during that time will get extra cards in their starter pack so they won't feel too disadvantageous to our higher level players.
The reason we decided to do this is because we didn't want to discredit all the work our current members have done to get where they are but we also don't want to scare away prospective players because they feel like other members may have too much of an advantage over them. We may even have a special event when we "re-open"/finish moving everything over so all members (both old and new) can have more chances to get more cards.
I think aside from what I've talked about, I've covered what I wanted to say. If you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them below and I will answer ASAP! Of course, please give us your opinions on the proposed idea. We know we can't please and meet everyone's requests/needs but we also want Dilly Dally to thrive so that's why your opinions are important.
Thank you for reading (and for any of your future input), and sorry for writing so much! I have a tendency of going on tangents and long rants when I get ~really passionate~ over things lol. If you want to skip through it all, and just scrolled down to the end, then I bolded the most important parts! Which was basically two (now three) sentances, so yeah.
